Mia Garza McCord

Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute
Austin, TX

Mia Garza McCord is the president of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI), a think tank operating at the Texas state government level to promote a conservative policy of “limited government, individual liberty, free enterprise, and traditional values”. Mia was born and raised in a Hispanic democrat family, but while studying at The University of Texas she realized that her own political beliefs aligned with the Republican platform. Since then, she has worked for several Texas lawmakers, including State Senator Kelly Hancock and US Congressman Lamar Smith, before joining TCCRI. In her role as president, she “uses her position of leadership to increase the diversity of voices contributing to conservative discourse in Texas.” Mia considers herself a center-right Republican and doesn’t always agree with the tactics and discourse used by the extreme-right of the party. She is passionate using her own experiences in her outreach to Latinos and to women. Mia is a Fellow of the second class of the Civil Society Fellowship, a Partnership of ADL and The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
