Martin Vitorino has served as deputy executive director of InsightLA, a nonprofit meditation center since Nov. 2019. He previously served as the organization’s director of programming where he coordinated programming for three centers and 10+ affiliate spaces. Since 2016, Martin has been a lead faculty for Courage of Care Coalition, teaching curricula that merges contemplative practices with social justice activism. He is the founder of Mindful Transitions, the first mindfulness meditation practice group for the transgender community in Los Angeles. Martin co-organizes retreats for the transmasculine community that support healing from internalized bias. He spent four years working on a federal research project with the Los Angeles LGBT Center developing a model for improving permanency outcomes for LGBTQ youth in foster care. He held positions in the Office of the VP and Secretary at Emory University, while earning a Ph.D. in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. He was named the 2012 Volunteer of the Year by Georgia Dept. of Corrections for volunteer service in Georgia Women's Prisons. Martin is a Fellow of the third class of the Civil Society Fellowship, a Partnership of ADL and The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
