Elizabeth Neumann is chief strategy officer for Moonshot, a social enterprise working to end online harms (i.e., violent extremism, child exploitation, human trafficking, etc.) that was twice named one of the world’s most innovative companies by Fast Company magazine. Elizabeth leads Moonshot’s U.S. programs, which support governments and community partners to understand and prevent violence. A national security expert with over two decades of experience, Elizabeth served across three Presidential Administrations- on the inaugural staff of the White House Homeland Security Council under President George W. Bush; advising the Office of the Director of National Intelligence during the Obama Administration; and as Deputy Chief of Staff to Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and as Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism and Threat Prevention in the Trump Administration. During her recent tenure at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), she rallied the national security community to better address the rise of domestic violent extremism. Elizabeth is a national security contributor for ABC News. She is treasurer of the National Immigration Forum and co-founder and member of the Council on National Security and Immigration. She is a recipient of DHS’ Outstanding Service Silver Medal. Her first book, Kingdom of Rage: The Rise of Christian Extremism and the Path Back to Peace will be released in April 2024 by Worthy Books, an imprint of Hachette. Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
