Dr. Noam Weissman is the executive vice president of OpenDor Media (Unpacked), a digital media organization with a mission to strengthen young people’s education about Israel, antisemitism, and the Jewish story in a thoughtful and substantive way. OpenDor Media creates and distributes educational content across social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, produces podcasts, and develops documentary films. Noam hosts the Unpacking Israeli History, which Noam has consistently trended as the top Jewish podcast on Apple in the United States and also co-hosts Wondering Jews. Noam also designed and developed the educational vision and implementation of the organization’s hub of Israel and Jewish education, Unpacked For Educators, which has become a primary tool for educators across the globe teaching about Israel, antisemitism, the Holocaust, and Jewish history, with over 2,200 educational institutions using it worldwide. Since joining the fellowship, Noam and his team also created ConnectED, a new educational platform for independent and public schools to study about the Israeli-Palestinian story and the broader Jewish story with transparency and curiosity. He served as the scholar in residence at Horace Mann in the 2023-2024 school year. Noam previously worked as principal of Shalhevet High School and has been a leader in developing creative, innovative, and engaging models for education. In his first years in education, Noam was part of the Legacy Heritage Fellowship, studying at the Azrieli School of Jewish education, and later completed his doctoral dissertation in education, focusing on educational psychology from the University of Southern California. He wrote his dissertation on Israel education and identity development. Noam is a Fellow of the fourth class of the Civil Society Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
