Brittany Hughes is a legislative expert and content creator. She recently served as Deputy Legislative Director and Counsel in the Office of Congressman John Lewis. In this role, Ms. Hughes managed a legislative portfolio that included issues such as women's policy, criminal justice, tax and financial services, defense and nuclear proliferation, and small and minority business issues. Prior to her time working for Congressman John Lewis, Ms. Hughes served in various roles including as an Immigration Attorney in Arlington, Virginia and as an Attorney at the U.S. Small Business Administration, Office of Disaster Assistance. Since 2018, Ms. Hughes has written for and co-hosted the “Blher” (pronounced blur) Podcast, a show highlighting the perspectives of Black women on a variety of social issues. In addition to the above, Ms. Hughes also spent time as a Legal Intern for the United States Agency for International Development, Human Rights Watch, and the National Public Prosecution Authority of Rwanda. Brittany is a Fellow of the second class of the Civil Society Fellowship, a Partnership of ADL and The Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
